Known as one of the easiest veggies to grow, yellow squash is always a summer favorite. This warm season veggie is ready to pick as soon as it is large enough to be used, which is usually 6” long, pale yellow and still tender. If it is dark yellow or yellow-orange with a firm rind, it is over-mature and should be removed or the will stop yielding. Squash grows on a bush type plant, and just a few of these healthy and well-maintained plants produce abundant yields. This perennial enjoys full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. It should mature in as little as 50 days. Hint: Plant radishes between the squash to prevent disease.
