Known as one of the easiest veggies to grow, yellow squash is always a summer favorite. This warm season veggie is ready to pick as soon as it is large enough to be used, which is usually 8-10” long, pale yellow and still tender. If it is dark yellow or yellow-orange with a firm rind, it is over-mature and should be removed or the will stop yielding. Squash grows on a bush type plant, and just a few of these healthy and well-maintained plants produce abundant yields. This perennial enjoys full sun and fertile, well-drained soil.
